April Color Contest - Begin!

Journal Entry: Tue Apr 10, 2012, 9:09 PM
BULLETIN:

Well...not actually begin begin.  You guys could begin as early as three days ago (time machines if you got'em, holla!).  But I am posting this as the official go-to journal for the April Color Contest, seeing as the raffle tied into the previous announcement has ended.

Also!  I get to announce the opening of the next wave of donations!  Check it!

BOOM!!

(Donations.  We needs 'em...)

It's also that time again for me to get on my knees and plead, plead, plead for some generous souls to throw in any spare points they have rattling about for the next contest's prize pool.  As usual, we'll post a big ol' gushy lovey dovey thank-you journal featuring all of you handsome trendsetters for so selflessly giving away dA points to your fellow young artists.

To donate, just follow that big ol' image to ~CMC-Donations, and use the donation widget on the top of that page!  It's that easy!

But we're also going to change it up a bit, and reduce the amount needed to get an art feature tied into that thank-you journal.  Now, you can have a few chosen pieces of artwork slathering the inboxes of the ten-thousand-plus #color-me-club members for donating a mere 50 dA points to the contest!  Instead of needing to donate 100, donors of just 50 dA points or more will be given a complimentary art feature in the #color-me-club journal, just for being so gosh tootin' dapper.

Though I'd love to geyser forth an unending barrage of flavorful text proclaiming how amazingly handsome you donors are, I do have to wrap it up and move on to the actual contest itself, though.  But, if you demand a 1500 word essay on how soul-suckingly gorgeous your eyes are, note `vest with a request so he can Ctrl+V the word "Very" 1500 times in response.

April 'Sanctuary/Reach For The Stars' Color Contest:

Now that the voting period is over, we will now spend the remainder of April holding the color portion of the "Sanctuary/Reach For The Stars" color contest.

This month, you can select any one of the entries from the March Lineart Contest: [link]

But if you'd like to select one of the winners from the March Lineart Contest, here are direct links and big images of them for you to browse!

PRIZES.

:bulletyellow: 1000 dA Points from `vest
:bulletyellow: 2,000 dA Points from the #color-me-club (Go to ~CMC-Donations to donate to the prize pool)

If you'd like to donate a prize, use the donation widget on :iconcmc-donations:.  Donors to that prize pool will be featured in the #color-me-club journal.  Donors of 100 points or more will also get a three-thumbnail feature in the #color-me-club journal.

HOW IT WORKS.

The contest is simple.  Take any of the lines above or from this collection: [link], download the full resolution, print it off or open it in your favorite drawing program, and give it some color.  Entries will be accepted until May 1st.

Then, a four-day long voting period will be held between May 1st through the 4th.

All medium is accepted.  You can color these images with Photoshop, Painter, Gimp, OC, crayons, color pencils, markers, pastels, ZBrush, you name it.  If it colors, it's acceptable.

I'M DONE WITH COLOR.  NOW WHAT?

Once you have completed your colored version of the lines above, submit it to your DeviantArt gallery.  Then, send the #color-me-club a note.  The note should be titled "APRIL COLOR CONTEST ENTRY," and the note needs to contain a [link] to your colored piece.

ANY SPECIAL RULES?

There are a few rules that need some going over.  First of all, you can only submit one entry.

You do NOT need to be a member of the #color-me-club to participate.  This is open to everybody.

The same rules regarding coloring lineart in the #color-me-club gallery still apply.  You can add to the image (environment, other effects, etc), but you cannot dramatically affect the lines in a way that completely changes them.  Also, do not remove or modify the signature or watermark on the image; that must stay.

Paintovers are acceptable.  You are free to even add details or completely redo other details, just as long as the general look and feel of the image still maintains that of the original lines.  Also remember that by doing a paintover, you are subject to the original line artist's demands; even if the lines aren't visible, their intended image and layout most certainly is.

You may resize the image however you need to as long as the contact information on the lineart is still legible.

Lastly, any users found to be pandering for votes will be disqualified.  You ARE allowed to state "I hope I win, wish me luck" on the image description.  However, you CANNOT say "everybody go to this [link] and send them a note voting for me" in any medium.  And by any medium, we mean ANY medium.  This includes:

-On the image description.
-On the image itself.
-On comments in that image, or other images.
-Journals.
-Your signature.
-Forum posts.
-Notes.
-Singing in the Back of Cop Cars.

Let the image speak for itself, and the best way to say "vote for me" is to put a laborious amount of love and tender work into your art.

All my blessings and best wishes to participants, and all my sincerest regards for best luck!  Here's hoping you too feel inspired to augment your coloring abilities and bolster them to reach for the stars, too!

Do we colour it on the conputer like in gimp or paint?
OR colour it in real life?
Like copic markers, aquarel pencil crayons?

:iconvest:
Either or. We accept both traditional and digital medium.

"As long as it colors, it's acceptable."

You can piece together a jellybean mosaic if you want, and we'd still enter it into the running!:lol:

This is *meganwayxo from #AnotherContestGroup, and I'd like to inform you that we've found and added your contest to our listing! The group also features results and offers prizes so note #AnotherContestGroup if interested in more information.

=missimoinsane does a monthly news article, which contains all current contests each month. You can find these listings in our main journal, “Welcome & Contest Information.” We try to post this information in our poll once the news article is up so our watchers are notified of this – perhaps join the group if you're not already a member for this and more information.

Note us if the deadline changes, or if you would like another contest featured.

I hope your contest is a success!

Is there only one winner? :o

:iconvest:
Nope. We will have a number of winners based upon how many entries we receive and how many dA points we raise on the :iconcmc-donations: page.
