Dialectical Dessertism: The ContestIt has long been debated just how cake and pie came to be bitter enemies (and occassional allies against other desserts). Some say it started in the Middle Ages when butter was first used for both unequally awesome desserts.
While others say it was when cake became a CV and the power went to her head!
At still yet, there is the rumor that is started when pie failed his sobriety test and blamed it all on cake for keeping him out too late.
But maybe none of those are the real story. That's where YOU come in.
What's this Contest About?
It's pretty simple. You're going to answer a very simple question. What is the origin of the pie/cake debacle? How you go about doing that is completely up to you. But since you have complete creative freedom to write history, we're expecting some very interesting (to say the least) renditions.

LTdAB Poetry Slam Submission Folder Open!We had a great time chatting with our participants, prize donors, judges and fellow writers yesterday. The month is approaching its end, and we have finally created and opened our contest folder for the poetry slam. Get those entries in as soon as you feel they are ready, but before the deadline at 11:59 PM CST May 31st, 2013. Here's a rundown of what all we expect an entry to have and be when submitted:

Entries must follow the theme of Self-Identity and must be work written for this contest.

Entries must be literature deviations containing the text of the slam poem with a link to where the audio can be heard.

The performance of the slam poem must be between 1-3 minutes. If it is longer or shorter we will ask you to modify the poem.

Video submissions are accepted (via a link to youtube in the writer's comments of the literature deviation)

_{HOW IT WORKS.}

The contest is simple. Take any of the lines above or from this collection: [link], download the full resolution, print it off or open it in your favorite drawing program, and give it some color. Entries will be accepted until May 1st.

Then, a four-day long voting period will be held between May 1st through the 4th.

All medium is accepted. You can color these images with Photoshop, Painter, Gimp, OC, crayons, color pencils, markers, pastels, ZBrush, you name it. If it colors, it's acceptable.

_{I'M DONE WITH COLOR. NOW WHAT?}

Once you have completed your colored version of the lines above, submit it to your DeviantArt gallery. Then, send the #color-me-club a note. The note should be titled "APRIL COLOR CONTEST ENTRY," and the note needs to contain a [link] to your colored piece.

_{ANY SPECIAL RULES?}

There are a few rules that need some going over. First of all, you can only submit one entry.

You do NOT need to be a member of the #color-me-club to participate. This is open to everybody.

The same rules regarding coloring lineart in the #color-me-club gallery still apply.  You can add to the image (environment, other effects, etc), but you cannot dramatically affect the lines in a way that completely changes them.  Also, do not remove or modify the signature or watermark on the image; that must stay.

Paintovers are acceptable.  You are free to even add details or completely redo other details, just as long as the general look and feel of the image still maintains that of the original lines.  Also remember that by doing a paintover, you are subject to the original line artist's demands; even if the lines aren't visible, their intended image and layout most certainly is.

You may resize the image however you need to as long as the contact information on the lineart is still legible.

Lastly, any users found to be pandering for votes will be disqualified.  You ARE allowed to state "I hope I win, wish me luck" on the image description.  However, you CANNOT say "everybody go to this [link] and send them a note voting for me" in any medium.  And by any medium, we mean ANY medium.  This includes:

-On the image description.
-On the image itself.
-On comments in that image, or other images.
-Journals.
-Your signature.
-Forum posts.
-Notes.
-Singing in the Back of Cop Cars.

Let the image speak for itself, and the best way to say "vote for me" is to put a laborious amount of love and tender work into your art.
